Finding the best gifts for a photographer is no easy task. Not only is photography an expensive hobby or job, but they can be a picky bunch when it comes to their equipment. But presents don’t have to be expensive and it’s the thought that counts.
In this guide we’re going to share 40 excellent gift ideas for photographers spanning the entire budget range. It includes items we use everyday as well as a few fun products we’ve recently added to our wishlist.
Our Experience
As a popular photography blog, we love to share our photos from all around the world. But when we first started traveling, we had no idea how to use a camera. So in fall of 2018, we purchased our first camera in Tokyo and self taught ourselves the basics of photography. We made a lot of mistakes at first, but this failure helped us quickly learn what not to do.
After a few months of snapping thousands of pictures around Asia, we were absolutely hooked. Photography further inspired our wanderlust and we upgraded our camera gear so we could take professional photos no matter where we went. We’re telling you this because we think photography is a never ending journey. No matter your age or skill set, there’s always something to learn. See our print shop here.
But before we get into our photography gift list, it’s important you know where to purchase the best equipment. We’ve included links to official Amazon storefronts for most products. However, if we were to make an expensive purchase such as a camera body or lens, we’d recommend getting it from Best Buy. We always like to go into the store and pick out the exact model ourselves to ensure quality.
If you’re in the market for new photography gear such as a backpack, we always recommend Peak Design. We’ve used their products for years and couldn’t be happier. We can even back up their warranty claim because they recently replaced one of our older backpacks completely free of charge. The official website will give you more choice compared to their Amazon storefront plus they usually offer free shipping after you spend a certain amount.
So without further ado, here are the accessories we think photographers can’t live without including a few fun stocking stuffers:
1. Freewell ND Filter
An neutral density (ND) filter is an essential tool for landscape photographers. You can use it to block the light entering the camera which allows for a wider aperture or slower shutter speed. Think of an ND filter as sunglasses for a camera. We like the Freewell brand because they are very affordable. However, you’ll have to know the size of your photographers lens to purchase the correct size filter. We also recommend this carrying case.
>> BUY: Amazon
2. Digital Picture Frame
This next gift option is good for someone who has a lot of photos. It’s a digital picture frame that will automatically rotate through 16GB (about 80,000) of photos. We purchased this gift for a grandparent so they could sit and watch family photos rotate within the frame. It was really well received and it’s perfect if you don’t want to hang several photos on the wall.
>> BUY: Amazon
3. Air Blower
While this seems like a small item, an air blower can make a big difference to any photographer. We use an air blower for cleaning our camera lenses and occasionally the sensor inside the camera itself. The soft silicone nozzle also helps to prevent damage in case it comes in contact with delicate parts of our camera.
>> BUY: Amazon
4. Camera Rain Cover
We like this rain cover by Altura because it fits various camera models including Canon, Nikon and Sony. It’s designed to protect and shield professional camera gear from the rain, snow, salt and other unexpected weather conditions your photographer may encounter. The cover features dual adjustable sleeves and full-length double zippers to provide easy access when holding or mounting the camera on a tripod.

5. Electronics Organizer
Photographers often travel with a lot of gear and that often means many cords. This electronics organizer was one of our very first purchases and it’s still something we always use daily. We like the double layer because our bulkier cords fit well in the bottom and there are removable dividers so you can adjust it exactly how you need. If you only have a few electronics, this is a good option too.

If you’re shopping for a gift to give a wedding photographer, this dual camera harness might be just what you need. The Manfrotto Befree is now our main travel tripod because it’s so compact. We think the aluminum body makes it extremely lightweight yet strong enough to hold our bulky camera gear.
11. Vanguard Alta Pro Tripod
We also own the Vanguard Alta Pro 3 tripod. This was our first tripod purchase and we still love it to this day. It’s available in both aluminum or carbon fiber and it’s more durable compared to the Manfrotto Befree listed above. We use this tripod for landscape shoots during road trips or for city photography when we can easily access it. Our favorite part is the swivel head because we can rotate our camera in any direction within an instant.
>> BUY: Amazon
12. GorillaPod
The GorillaPod by Joby is the perfect gift for traveling photographers or those who love to shoot outdoors. We love wrapping the flexible legs of our GorillaPod around poles or trees to achieve a unique angle where a standard tripod won’t do the trick. It’s very lightweight and compact so we can easily bring it on a hike.

13. Zhiyun Weebill S
A present for the professional cinematographer, this versatile and lightweight gimbal balances any heavy camera and lens combination with incredible maneuverability. Anyone can easily make a video with modern day smartphones, but it will require some sort of stabilization technique. This gimbal is loaded with features to make video recording a breeze and it’s just what your creator needs to capture that perfect Instagram, Tik Tok or YouTube video.
15. DJI Air 3 Drone
The DJI Air 3 is the newest version in DJI’s drone line. We currently use the DJI Mavic Pro 2 which is no longer in production so this model will offer your photographer even better specifications. It captures impressive 48MP images and records stunning 4K/60fps HDR videos with dual cameras. We also like that it comes with 3 batteries and a charging hub because we had to purchase all of our seperately.
16. Hard Drone Case
If you’re going to invest in a drone, we highly recommend you purchase a hard case to go along with it. This waterproof case by Lekufee is compatible with the DJI Air 3 plus it can store up to 8 batteries, the smart controller, a charging hub, multiple propellers and so much more. If the photographer in your life already has a drone, we guarantee they’ll love unwrapping this thoughtful gift Christmas morning.

Both models come with quick release clips featuring in and out anchor connections as well as customizations for slings, shoulders or neck configurations.
